Readable puzzle-book editions

Make a large-print word-search book readers can enjoy

A bigger page alone does not make a puzzle easier to read. Grid density, word-list length and physical print size matter too. Here is a practical recipe you can test in Puzlith Studio.

A starting recipe, not a rigid template

Try these settings with your own theme, then inspect a real page at 100% size. Nature, travel and mindful-break vocabulary can all work if the words feel coherent for the intended reader.

Page size
8.5 × 11 in, no bleed
Grid
Start at 12 × 12; increase only if the type stays comfortable

Inside Puzlith

What Large Print changes

  • The edition uses an 8.5 × 11 in paperback page and caps the grid at 14 × 14.
  • Print preflight requires grid letters of at least 16 pt and uses a 16 pt word list.
  • Puzzle pages and matching solutions are generated together, then shown in the preview.

Your editorial review

What a setting cannot decide

Look at the book as a reader would. Check the title and instructions, long words, crowded corners, answer-key legibility and whether several puzzles feel too similar. Print a few pages at actual size; screen zoom can hide problems.

“Large print” describes this layout option; it is not a certification of accessibility for every reader.

Before uploading to KDP

Choose the same trim size in KDP as in your exported interior, confirm the page count and paper settings, and inspect both the manuscript and cover in Amazon's Print Previewer. A larger trim can have different printing costs, so check the price before publishing.

KDP sets its own requirements for page size, margins, bleed and covers. Read the current trim and margin guidance . Puzlith preflight is useful, but it does not replace KDP's checks or a physical proof.
